Private bilingual school in Boadilla del Monte: educational project

From 6 to 12 years old, we seek the comprehensive development of our students, addressing all their dimensions: intellectual, ethical, spiritual, emotional, communicative, athletic and social.

Private bilingual school in Boadilla del Monte: we prepare our pupils for a global world

An international, dynamic and real-world model

At Highlands, we are committed to genuine bilingual education from the earliest years. Our own model, inspired by the High School system, allows students to naturally and confidently study 50% of the curriculum in English. From Year 1 of Primary, English becomes a living, functional tool that is part of their everyday life.

From 5º de Primaria (age 10–11), pupils take up French as a third language, promoting multilingualism and their communication skills in a globalised world.

Specialist teachers and subject-specific learning environments

Each subject is taught by a teacher who is an expert in their field and who has their own classroom. It is the pupils who move from room to room according to the subject, which fosters independence and responsibility, and a more specialised, enriching learning experience closer to the Secondary model.

Ongoing teacher training

Our teaching staff are dynamic, curious and committed to continuous improvement. They receive specific training in their specialism, in innovative methodologies and in language development, including training placements abroad. This means we offer teaching that is always up to date and motivating.

We strive for excellence in every pupil

Nadar es Vida (Swimming is Life) programme: daily physical activity and our own swimming pool

We believe in sport as a fundamental part of each pupil’s all-round development. In the early years of Primary, pupils enjoy four sessions of physical activity a week, plus a session of aquatic psychomotor skills in our heated swimming pool. The whole programme is endorsed by the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation, guaranteeing quality teaching in the water.

Sport becomes a space in which to grow in effort, self-esteem, teamwork and healthy habits.

Genuine personal accompaniment for every pupil

Christian formation and spiritual accompaniment

We joyfully live out our following of Christ, always seeking truth, goodness and beauty in everyday life. Primary includes Catholic Religion lessons, preparation for the sacraments and a range of faith and chaplaincy activities. Our pupils are supported by a school chaplain, as well as by consecrated staff and instructors, who watch over their spiritual growth.

The pupil at the heart of everything

Each student receives personalized and close support. Regular individual tutoring sessions are held, as well as group tutoring to improve classroom cohesion and meetings with families to align each child’s emotional, academic, and social development. The role of the tutor and the training instructor is key at this stage.

Parenting workshops (Escuela de Padres)

At Highlands, we walk hand in hand with families. That is why we offer training sessions and opportunities for dialogue with experts to help parents in the great task of bringing up their children, adapting to the concerns and challenges children face today.

We educate committed pupils

We educate in virtues and leadership

Beyond academic content, we form character. Each week our pupils work on a specific virtue as part of the virtues programme, and they can earn a place on the Roll of Honour (Cuadro de Honor), which recognises their commitment to effort, companionship, a positive attitude and the values they live by every day.

Committed to others

We promote solidarity from an early age through social action and volunteering, where pupils discover that true leadership is based on serving others.

A positive environment for living together

We create an environment in which children feel safe, listened to and valued, thanks to programmes such as:

  • Peer tutoring, in which older pupils provide emotional support to younger classmates.
  • House system (programa de alianzas): every pupil belongs to one of three houses inspired by historical figures of the United Kingdom (St George, St David and St Andrew), fostering a sense of belonging, healthy competition and positive relationships.

Supermanners: good table manners

The dining hall is also a place for learning. Through the Supermanners programme, pupils put the values of respect, courtesy and gratitude into practice at mealtimes. Lunch thus becomes a daily opportunity to teach small gestures that reflect great values.

We educate digitally competent pupils, ready for the world of tomorrow

A digital environment endorsed by Microsoft: Microsoft Showcase School

The Office 365 suite of educational apps turns the classroom into a safe, agile and intuitive collaborative learning environment, full of resources for learning and enabling teaching that is more personalised, creative and independent, as well as collaborative.

When pupils use Microsoft Office 365, they are developing the skills and competencies they will need in the future.

We have a range of electronic devices – Smart Boards, digital projectors and iPads – as learning tools and resources in the classroom.

iPad project <>

From 5º de Primaria (age 10–11), every pupil has an iPad as a learning tool to complement and strengthen the development of their digital competence.

Computational thinking

The Lego Robotix programme encourages problem-solving, logical thinking and creativity. Through hands-on learning, pupils work together to design, program and control robots and building systems, developing practical solutions to everyday problems.

Key features of our Primary model

From ages 6 to 12, at Highlands School Los Fresnos in Boadilla del Monte we focus on the all-round development of our pupils, covering the intellectual, ethical, spiritual, emotional, communicative, sporting and social dimensions. Single-sex classes (differentiated education) with mixed learning environments

At Highlands, we are committed to an education that responds to the reality and needs of each developmental stage. That’s why we combine single-sex education with mixed learning environments, creating a balanced setting that supports both academic achievement and personal growth.

Each school stage has its own building, tailored to the developmental needs of the students. However, boys and girls naturally interact throughout the day: in the dining hall, playgrounds, social activities, interdisciplinary projects, and shared subjects, students collaborate, face challenges, and learn together.

This model allows us to:

  • Respond better to each pupil’s pace, abilities and interests
  • Support more personalized academic and emotional development.
  • Create an environment of respect, participation, and equality, where every student can express their personality freely and confidently.
  • Foster genuine, rich and respectful relationships between boys and girls, preparing them for a plural society

The carefully structured combination of single-sex and mixed spaces allows us to bring out the best in each approach and offer a balanced, complete and deeply human education.
